Emotional & Social Needs
At Staindrop, we recognise that some pupils have additional emotional and social needs that need to be developed and nurtured. These needs can manifest themselves in a number of ways, including behavioural difficulties or anxiety and in communication difficulties.
For those pupils who find aspects of this difficult, we offer:

- Talkabout sessions
- Anxiety Gremlin sessions
- Wellbeing and Mindfulness support
- Zones of Regulation
- Counselling
- Restorative sessions
- Anger management
- Mental Health support in conjunction with CAMHs
- Peer mentoring
- Mental Health First Aid Support
If you, or school staff, become concerned about any developing behaviour, then we will arrange to meet with you to try to determine any possible causal factors and to plan appropriate provision to support your child’s needs.
Learning Support Base – LSB
‘The Learning Support Base’ offers bespoke learning support, academic interventions, lunchtime clubs and extra-curricular activities for the students of Staindrop Academy.
The Learning Support Base provides opportunities for the SEN department to run student specific interventions within a supportive learning environment. Interventions offered are: Lego Therapy, Talkabout, Anxiety Gremlin, Numeracy and Literacy Skills, CBT, Wellbeing and Social time support.
