At Staindrop Academy we cater for all children between the ages of 11 and 16 and have approximately 600 pupils on roll. Set on the western edge of the historic village of Staindrop and overlooking rolling fields and farms, Staindrop School is without doubt one of the most attractively situated schools in the region.
At Staindrop Academy we place great importance on academic excellence, continually monitoring our teaching methods and the progress of individual pupils.
We converted to academy status in August 2011 following full consultation with Governors, parents and staff. The general day-to day life of the school has remained largely unaffected by this conversion. As ever, the Staindrop motto remains “Maximising success in a strong community”. We were delighted to recently receive the news that we have been placed 100th out of 3017 schools nationally. based on the progress achieved by Year 11 leavers in Summer 2013.
The confirmation came from the Head of Education in Co Durham, Caroline O’Neill who congratulated students and staff on achieving these outcomes at a time when schools are adapting to a changing landscape in education policy.
Ms O’Neill wrote, “This (national ranking) demonstrates the breadth and quality of education across the whole curriculum of which the school should be justifiably very proud.”
