Curriculum

The Staindrop Curriculum is designed to ensure that our pupils are:

  • successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve
  • confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
  • responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society

Year 7 and Year 8:

In Key Stage 3 all students study: English, Maths, Science, At least one language (French/German), Art, Citizenship, Geography, History, ICT, Music, PE, RE, Technology (a carousel of Graphics, Food, Textiles and RM)

Year 9, 10 and 11:

In Key Stage 4 all students study our core subjects which are: English, Maths, Science, ICT/Computing, RE/Citizenship

Each student is then allocated a pathway according to their specific needs and abilities. Each pathway allows the students to study the courses which are most suitable for them, and offers them the best chance of succes. Depending on their pathway, students will be able to choose between the following subjects:

Art, Business Studies, Engineering, Health and Social Care, Sports Studies, Child Development, Citizenship, Drama, Electronics, Food, French, Music, Geography, German, Graphics, History, Leisure and Tourism, Media Studies, Resistant Materials, Textiles, Photography and Psychology
